Letter of Commendation, previously also known as Monarch's Commendation of Valuable Service, was awarded to individuals who have demonstrated a level of commitment in a military campaign or to a project above and beyond required duties. It was often the first award of merit for dedicated individuals that were in the early years of their national service.
